Seafood dinner at home

We decided to stay in for a dinner.  Needed to scare up some goodies, so we went to Marco and hit a few perveyors:
Lee Be fish for loch of fish tacos and Yellowfin tuna to go.
Publix for 65 cent local oysters, some supprasata and Camembert.
Kirks fish store in Goodland for Stone crabs.

Proud to say I shucked them myself (with a little help from my friend).

Nice accompaniments.

Hummus as intermezzo?  Why not?

Seated a lb of Yellowfin tuna and served with wasabi and soy sauce.

The coup de gras: Stone Crab claws.

The requisite dessert.  Wonderful meal. Much cheaper than obtainable in a restaurant.  Much fun.

Cafe Lurcat, Naples, Florida

Finally escaped the cold.  Snow three times in one week before winter starts.  What happened to global warming?
First night at Finn Bistro on Marco. (See previous post).
Last night went to Cafe Lurcat on 5th street in Naples. Upstairs balcony is great place to sit.  Staff is all really nice and helpful.  Very nice house specialty drinks. I had a "New Fashion" and my friend had a Lychee Martini. Both were excellent.
Wine list is okay and a bit overpriced for me. Probably because I'm cheap and prefer to BYO and pay corkage.
Food was great:

Steak tartare...yum.

Ceviche was tasty.

Apple and chive salad with Manchego cheese.  Very refreshing.

Already started roasted Brussels Sprouts.  Not usually a fan, but these we're great.

Dover Sole special with Cauliflower purée.  Delicious.

Seared tuna was made perfectly as requested: very rare.

Roasted yellow beets: always one of my favorites.

Pasta Nero with shrimp. A classic dish that they made perfectly.

We enjoyed a nice cheese plate for dessert with some simple Port.
Considering the great staff, ambiance and food, this place is way up there on my list of places to fine nicely in Naples.
What to wear?  A tuxedo or shorts and flip flops are both acceptable...the beauty of this area.

Black Sea bass simply roasted with steamed veggies

Just really lucky.  Barb wanted fish tonight and I wanted soup.
No pix of the Carrot Chipotle soup. The fish guy had Black Sea bass filets.  Missed a lot of bones, but I have the little bone tweezer to get them out.

Yowza. Barb just got a recipe off
the internet.  When we got home she threw together the Carrot Chipotle soup.
Steamed some cauliflower and zukes.
Some leftover Pinot from last night I copped from WTSO.com.  Even used some Trader Joe Chard reserve that she needed for the fish.  Tasty and cheap.
I'm a lucky guy!

Chicken Tagine with Chick Peas, Carrots and Harisa

Barb had a cold today and sent me off to Jersey to help with grand kids.  She felt like something spicy, so she pulled out this Bobby Flay recipe.  Good amount of work.  I had the easy job today.

Chicken thigh Tagine.

Served with Morocan carrot salad.

She makes the Harisa with non-fat Greek yogurt.

Perfect wine for the meal. $19.99.

Leftovers for Monday night.

A stunningly good recipe from a surprise source

Went to Costco the other day to pick up some lox.  On the way out they were giving away cookbooks.  Found several really interesting recipes which I hocked Barb about trying.  Tonight she made this truly delicious dish.

Fennel and garlic shrimp.  Called for U-15s.  Get a fennel bulb with the fronds.  The tablespoon of Pernod added a great flavor.  We used chervil instead of parsley because we had some outside and it made sense.

Served with roasted zucchini and tomatoes.

Any Pastis will do.  They always call it Pernod because it's the most popular Pastis.

Post-Thanksgiving refrigerator.

Note lack of giant turkey.  Still plenty of vino on hand.

Oriental Salmon and Broccoli traybake

Barb picked up some nice salmon today. Had some broccoli and scallions in the fridge.  She did a websearch and came up with this easy, delicious, and very attractive dinner.  Also very low cal and healthy.  She keeps me healthy.  Very lucky for me.

Served with a too young Pinot, but it's Wednesday night.

She had to convert from Centigrade, so I assume it was a British website.

Bon appetit.
